Mobile Browser Panel @ The Mobile Business Expo

I wanted to give everyone an update on the panel I will be moderating at the Mobile Business Expo (September 16-19).  The panel is absolutely stellar:

  • Chris Blizzard - Mobile Evangelist at Mozilla, makers of Firefox
  • Anna Chagnon - President and CEO of Bitstream, makers of the ThunderHawk Browser 
  • Kiyo Oishi - COO of ACCESS Systems Americas, makers of the NetFront Browser 
  • Jon von Tetzchner - CEO of Opera Software, makers of Opera Mobile

These four industry heavyweights will be joining me to talk about the evolution of the microbrowser and its impact on enterprise mobility.  You can find more information about the panel here.  I hope you'll be able to join us there!

Crack and Enterprise Mobility Just Don't Mix

CRACKPIPE This is an incredibly important lesson, people.  Do not mix drugs when discussing important topics such as enterprise mobility or mobility in general.  I saw an article today on Information Week that just got my blood boiling.  Don't even waste your time reading the article.  J. Gold Associates is predicting that Symbian and Android will merge into one open source mobile OS within 3-6 months.  Lord help us.

Opening a New Chapter

So, I wanted to share with you some pretty exciting news.  If you recall, I posted a few weeks ago regarding the fact that I had left Aberdeen.  Well, I am now sharing with you the news that I have joined Strategy Analytics.  SA is a great organization, with some tremendously talented and respected professionals who really know their stuff.  I only hope that I won't bring the collective IQ down too much.  ;-)  Here's a link to the press release in case you are interested.

More Goodness Happening at Palm

This news came out a few days ago, but I have been super busy with work and am actually now in London working on some exciting new projects.  It looks like Matias Duarte, of Helio and Danger fame, has now joined Palm to design the user interface for Palm's next-generation Linux-based operating system.  While I have overall been rather pessimistic of mobile Linux, that's more in the context of open source initiatives.  However, there's nothing wrong in my mind for an organization such as Palm to create a "proprietary" operating system based upon the open source kernel.

Hosting a Panel at The Mobile Business Expo

Big surprise, your entrepid blogger has been as busy as ever.  The good news is that I also had the chance last week to visit one of my favorite cities in the United States: San Francisco.  I took a much needed vacation before I started my next (very exciting) endeavour.  I'll be sharing information about that soon.  Until then, I wanted to let you know that I will be hosting a panel on September 17 in NYC at the Mobile Business Expo @ Interop.  MBX is one of my favorite events that is dedicated to enterprise mobility.  The panel will cover the exciting topic of mobile browsers.  Do you work in the mobile browser space? If so, drop me a line to see if it would make sense for you to participate on the panel.
